Prime meridians and extraordinary ones.

The prime meridians are 12. 3 begin in the foot (and straight left, it is necessary to remember that they are bilateral), by the outside, other 3 begin inside the foot. There are 3 that begins by the outer side of the hand and other 3 by their internal face. Altogether 12. They are the main routes of communication of the 12 organs with the outside of the body. They tie with the five elements or phases and within each phase are related by pairs, the explanation of it leaves the scope of this work.

The eight extraordinary meridians (either annexed or additional) circulate around other routes and are different in their nature from the main ones. Their functions are the following ones:

-           Energy deposits of or qi with respect to the main ones act like.

-           They unite prime meridians to each other.

-           They do not communicate vísceras organs or with the outside.

-           Only two of them, Ren Mai and Du Mai, have own specific points. The others have points of confluence with the prime meridians, being able to manipulate in those points.

-           In sum, they regulate the balance yin-yang.
